Our Approach

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a unique form of psychotherapy that focuses on helping individuals accept their thoughts and feelings rather than fighting or feeling guilty for them. ACT encourages people to commit to actions that align with their values and improve their lives. It combines mindful practices with behavioral changes, empowering individuals to live in the present moment and handle life's challenges with more resilience and flexibility. By fostering acceptance and commitment, ACT helps individuals reduce suffering and build a meaningful, fulfilling life.

Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART)

Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) is a brief, evidence-based psychotherapy that integrates techniques from various therapeutic approaches to address trauma and other psychological stressors.

Your Therapist at Koru Financial Therapy will utilize rapid eye movements and image rescripting to recondition how distressing memories are stored in the brain, thereby reducing their emotional impact.

Typically, ART can lead to significant improvements in conditions such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, and depression, often within one to five sessions. By transforming negative images associated with traumatic memories into positive ones, ART empowers individuals to alleviate suffering and enhance their overall quality of life.

An option to focus on money with Financial Therapy

Blending ACT or ART with Financial Therapy creates a dynamic approach to addressing financial stress and building healthier money habits. With ACT, clients learn to accept difficult financial emotions—such as shame, fear, or anxiety—and commit to actions that align with their financial values, fostering mindful money decisions. ART focuses on relief from overwhelm, analysis paralysis, impulsivity, and feeling stuck. When combined with financial therapy's focus on emotional and psychological relationships with money, this approach empowers clients to move from financial avoidance or stress to more intentional and value-driven financial behavior.
