Individual Financial Therapy
Navigate Financial Anxiety and
Heal Money Trauma
Let’s start by naming the reality of the situation.
If you are feeling overwhelmed, panicked, or entirely avoidant when it comes to money, you are not broken.
You are not "bad with money," and you are not failing.
We live in a culture that consistently equates our net worth with our self-worth. We are navigating a high cost of living, shifting economic landscapes, and heavy systemic pressures. When you combine those pressures with your own personal money history, it makes complete sense that your nervous system perceives money as a threat. Financial anxiety and money trauma are not just math problems. They are physiological responses tied directly to your survival, your identity, and your sense of safety in the world.
What is Financial Anxiety and Money Trauma?
Financial anxiety is a chronic state of dread or hyper-vigilance regarding your money. It often persists regardless of how much money you actually have. Because financial anxiety is rooted in your nervous system rather than the numbers in your spreadsheet, earning more money rarely cures it. Money trauma is often the root cause of this anxiety. Trauma occurs when an event or a prolonged series of events overwhelms your nervous system's ability to cope.
If you grew up in systemic poverty, witnessed your parents constantly fighting about bills, experienced financial abuse, or navigated a sudden job loss, your brain learned a very clear lesson. It learned that money equals danger. Your current anxiety or avoidance is simply your brain trying to protect you from experiencing that past danger again.
Healing is Possible
If looking at your bank account makes your chest tighten, please know that support is available. You do not have to live in a constant state of financial dread or restriction. It is entirely possible to stop avoiding your finances, release the heavy guilt around spending, and build a relationship with money that feels secure, sustainable, and entirely your own.
Financial Therapy and The Financial Healing Model™ Can Help
Reading about financial anxiety is an excellent first step, but rewiring deep-seated trauma responses often requires a safe, structured, and relational environment. As a licensed psychotherapist and certified financial therapist, my role is not to act as a wealth manager who simply tells you where to cut your grocery bill. Using the Financial Healing Model™, we uncover the why behind your money habits so we can build a how that actually works for your unique life.

Traditional financial advice will tell you that to fix avoidance, you just need more "discipline." As a trauma-informed financial therapist, I am telling you to throw that advice out. Avoidance is simply a freeze or flight response in action. Healing happens by working gently with your nervous system and signaling to your body that it is safe to interact with your money. Rather than using shame or forced discipline, the Financial Healing Model integrates trauma-informed care and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). We safely and slowly expose you to your finances, neutralize the moral language around your spending, and process past traumas so they stop dictating your present reality.
-
In our sessions, we bridge the gap between emotional processing and practical financial behavior. We will work together to process inherited family money scripts, release any guilt, and actively regulate your nervous system. From there, we build values-based systems that organize your money in a way that aligns with what you actually care about. This means prioritizing your community, your rest, your family, and your joy rather than what society expects of you.
Imagine What’s Possible
Financial confidence is rarely about having a perfectly rigid ten-year plan. True financial confidence is about self-trust. Imagine being able to:
Look at your bank accounts without your chest tightening or triggering a panic response.
Spend money on things that bring you ease and comfort without spiraling into a cycle of guilt and restriction.
Automate the administrative financial tasks that drain your energy.
Navigate financial surprises with the emotional and practical tools to handle them calmly.
Deeply know that your financial worth has absolutely nothing to do with your human worth.

Stopping the guilt cycle requires unlearning the societal conditioning that moralizes money.
